Dominic's summer school

The pre-school Dominic will start in the fall had week long summer classes with different themes going on every month. So Dominic picked the art class to go to. Friday was the last day of class so they had an "art show" for all the projects that they did. He was SO proud of his art! The mask was his favorite project:
They also made cave drawings that were hung up in cardboard caves they had all made together. His is the drawing above him:
He even got a little diploma for graduating the art class. He had so much fun this week. Now he can't stop talking about starting school :)

A good visit with family!

The weekend of the 4th my cousin Amy, her husband Tom, and their daughter Abigail came to Tennessee to visit Tom's family. They were directly south of us on the Alabama border, so we met up at a state park in the middle (or as close as middle as we could get!). The park was beautiful:
And had a lot of picnic areas to go to, two playgrounds, a boat dock, and a bunch of places to go beside the Kentucky Lake. It was the grounds of a civil war battle, the Battle of Johnsonville. The state park website had said there were two forts still standing that you can go in, but we didn't find them if they were there. The only thing we saw that was related to the Civil war were these:
And some ditches. But we still had a great time and the kids had lots of fun.We packed a picnic to eat and then the kids amazingly occupied themselves while Amy and I sat actually sat and chatted awhile. They had told us they were putting a face on the tree, imagine our surprise when they really did!
I was impressed! I think Abby was the brains of the operation, but I did see Dom and Autumn carrying rocks :) Then the kids played on the playground:
And threw rocks: We had a ton of fun and everyone was wiped out by the end of the trip!Miss you guys already!

Happy 4th!

We had a REALLY rainy 4th of July. We still managed to BBQ in between the storms, and decided to go with the plan to drive up to the Nashville fireworks because the weather radar showed they were not supposed to get rain until 1030 and the fireworks were earlier.Unfortunately, the weather channel was wrong. It sprinkled for most of the time we were there. So we did some tailgating :)
They moved the fireworks up because of the storms, but we got hit anyhow. We saw 10 minutes of the 20 minute show. It was raining so hard we were getting wet inside the back of the car. That was the cue to go! Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!!
